Bacton Under Fives was established in 1978 when it opened as a mother and toddler group. A year later the pre-school and the charity were established evolving over the years to full day care. We cover 51 weeks a year, 7.45 to 17.30, Monday to Friday. We provide care for children from 3 months to 4 years 11 months.
We also offer out of school care for 5- to 8-year-old children before and after school, plus during the school holidays (where spaces allow).
All meals pre-pared and cooked on site covering all children’s dietary requirements.

Rebecca Pipe
Manager
Rebecca joined joined us in January 2023 moving up to the role of Manager in January 2025. Rebecca has worked within childcare settings for the past 20 years. She has a “Degree of Bachelor of Arts” which she passed with honours in Early Learning. Rebecca is a Designated Safeguarding Lead, SENCo Lead.
Helen Cardy
Deputy Manager and Leader for Under 3's
Helen is a full-time Early Years Practitioner qualified to level 3. Helen is also a Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENCo for the younger children. Helen started working with us as a student and was offered a permanent position in April 2010 when we opened the Buds room.
Laura Cardy
Early Years Practitioner & Acorns Room Leader
Laura is room leader for Acorns and is Level 3 qualified and working full-time. Laura again started working with us in September 2010, initially as a holiday group employee.
Rachel Ottley
Administrator
Rachel is our Administrator working 4 days a week and ensures that the business side of our setting is running smoothly. Rachel joined us as an official employee in 2010 when we branched out and additional work meant we needed help with administrative duties.
Rosie Goudy
Early Years Practitioner
Rosie is Level 3 qualified and works across all 3 rooms. Rosie has been with us since completing her studies in 2024.
Fenella Laflin
Early Years Practitioner
Fenella is a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner working within the Buds room. Fenella joined us in 2017 fresh out of college after studying for two years for her level 3 qualification.
Samantha Pearce
Samantha joined us as an apprentice with West Suffolk College in October 2021. She now has her Level 3 and works in the Buds room.
Kirsty Nash
Kirsty joined us in July 2023. She is level 3 qualified and has many years experience in previous nurseries. Kirsty works full time in the Seedlings room.
Lucy Glendinning
Early Years Practitioner
Lucy joined us in April 2024 and has many years experience in Early Years.

Alannah Woodall
Early Years Practitioner
Alannah joined the team in October 2024 and currently works mainly in the Seedlings room.
Sophie Thrower
Early Years Practitioner
Sophie joined the team in January 2025 and works mainly in the Acorns room.
Katie & Holleigh Harrod
Katie and Holleigh have worked with us during their breaks from studies whilst at high school and through universities. They are a huge asset to the team and the children love them both!
Sam Phillips
Early Years Practitioner and Playworker
Early Years Practitioner and Playworker for the out of school groups. Level 3 qualified. Sam joined us in 2001, when we opened the After School Group. Sam is currently taking a break from working.
Sharron Fowell
Sharron is our cleaner and works each day and faces all kinds of mess! She is an invaluable member of our team. In addition, Sharron comes in to help us some days at dinner time in the serving and clearing up after the children between 12 noon and 1pm. Sharron also steps in to help in the sessions when needed too.
Carole Stephens
Carole is also our cleaner and works alongside Sharron clearing and cleaning after each day. Carole also helps us at dinner times. Carole has also been a regular helper in the session on a Wednesday morning.

Bacton Under Fives is committed to helping young people train in care and education and has students join the team on a regular basis from West Suffolk and Ipswich colleges also High Schools on work experience.
